Four questions to ask about a stock move
Use What, Why, So What, and Now What to separate the price move from the story around it.
What changed?
Start with a dated observation. Identify the ticker, the session, the price change, and what you’re comparing it with. An intraday observation and a completed close answer different questions.
Why might it have changed?
Check whether a filing, company announcement, or other cited event happened before the move. A headline published after the close can add context, but it cannot explain the earlier move on its own.
So what? Now what?
Ask whether the move changed the trend or merely added volatility. Then name the next evidence you would check, such as the next close, volume, or a scheduled filing. Treat technical levels as reference points for research.
